Sorry sa mga hindi NBA fans ha. Puro basketball kasi nasa blogs ko eh

The NBA Draft Lottery was held yesterday to determine the draft order. Portland won the lottery, which just goes to show that losing on purpose to improve one's draft position will not pay off. May nabasa akong excellent suggestion to eliminate "tanking" once the season is about to end.

Dapat daw na the draft order will be based on the records of the teams as of the end of February, instead of basing it on their records at the end of the season. This is so because tanking games generally occur around mid-March. By the end of February, hindi pa nagpapatalo yung Boston and Memphis kasi umaasa pa sila na umabot sa playoffs.

Anyway, here is the first of a series of mock drafts. My final mock draft will be done aroudn June. I'm proud to announce that I fare better than some "experts" when it comes to making mock drafts :D

I've done my research for the past years, and I will never stop researching. You heard it here first.

1. Portland - Greg Oden, C Ohio State
2. Seattle - Kevin Durant, SF Texas
3. Atlanta - Mike Conley Jr, PG Ohio State
4. Memphis - Yi Jianlian, PF China
5. Boston - Brandan Wright, PF North Carolina
6. Milwaukee - Corey Brewer, SF Florida
7. Minnesota - Al Horford, PF Florida
8. Charlotte - Jeff Green, F Georgetown
9. Chicago - Spencer Hawes, C Washington
10. Sacramento - Julian Wright, SF Kansas
11. Atlanta - Joakim Noah, PF Florida
12. Philadelphia - Al Thornton, F Florida State
13. New Orleans - Thaddeus Young, SF Georgia Tech
14. LA Clippers - Acie Law IV, PG Texas A&M
15. Detroit - Nick Young, SF Southern California
16. Washington - Josh McRoberts, PF Duke
17. New Jersey - Tiago Splitter, PF Brazil
18. Golden State - Rudy Fernandez, SG Spain
19. LA Lakers - Javaris Crittenton, PG Georgia Tech
20. Miami - Jason Smith, C Colorado State
21. Philadelphia - Aaron Gray, C Pittsburgh
22. Charlotte - Marc Gasol, C Spain
23. New York - Derrick Byars, GF Vanderbilt
24. Phoenix - Marco Belinelli, SG Italy
25. Utah - Arron Afflalo, SG UCLA
26. Houston - Marcus Williams, GF Arizona
27. Detroit - Alando Tucker, SG Wisconsin
28. San Antonio - Brandon Rush, GF Kansas
29. Phoenix - Nick Fazekas, PF Nevada
30. Philadelphia - Gabe Pruitt, PG Southern California

Nagmamadali na ako, yan na lang muna for now updates to follow

The other day I pointed out that if anyone were to take offense to the news that Ben Wallace is hopping on Starbury's magical train of cheap sneakers, it would have to be people who sell expensive sneakers. Like Nike.

Ken Berger of Newsday followed up nicely (via AwfulAnnouncing):

It didn't matter how much Stephon Marbury's sneakers cost when he rattled in a three-pointer with 8.5 seconds left last night to keep the Knicks ever so faintly alive in their quest to make the playoffs.

"I mean, come on," said LeBron James, the Cavaliers' star forward whose Nikes cost at least 10 times the price of Marbury's wallet-friendly Starburys. "This city deserves a playoff team. It doesn't make sense for them to have all that talent and not be able to make the playoffs."

Before the game, James took a little shot at Marbury's $14.98 kicks, saying he couldn't imagine endorsing a sneaker that cheap.

"No, I don't think so," James said. "Me being with Nike, we hold our standards high."

Marbury, who is friendly with James, was lacing up his Starburys before the game when informed of LeBron's comment. He thought about it for a moment and said, "I'd rather own than be owned."

(Little factoid: As far as I can tell, LeBron's shoes are $150ish for high-tops.)

panis ka lebron! hahahha

Do not read this kung hindi ka mahilig magbasketbol. mabobore ka lang.

tagal na pala ng last entry ko! oh well. whattasem eh, ang saya saya ng marketing (you da man OSI!) anyway, its march already. nasa school pa rin kami.

florida vs butler = FLORIDA (taurean green, lee humphrey, corey brewer, al horford, joakim noah))

oregon vs las vegas = OREGON (aaron brooks, tajuan porter, bryce taylor, malik hairston, marty leunen)

kansas vs southern illinois = KANSAS (mario chalmers, russell robinson, brandon rush, julian wright, sasha kaun, darrell arthur, sherron collins)

pittsburgh vs ucla = UCLA (darren collison, arron afflalo, josh shipp, luc-richard mbah-a-moute, lorenzo mata)

north carolina vs southern california = SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (gabe pruitt, nick young, lodrick stewart)

vanderbilt vs georgetown = GEORGETOWN (jonathan wallace, jeff green, roy hibbert)

ohio state vs tennesee = OHIO STATE (mike conley, daequan cook, ron lewis, jamar butler, greg oden)

texas a&m vs memphis = TEXAS A&M (acie law, dominique kirk, antanas kavaliauskas, joseph jones)

Elite Eight: Florida, Oregon, Kansas, UCLA, USC, Georgetown, Ohio State, Texas A&M

Final Four: Florida Kansas Georgetown Ohio State

as much as i want OREGON to win the whole thing, parang hindi nila kaya kasi theyre too small (first 5 nila: pg pg sg sf sf) and makakalaban nila florida sa elite 8. in fact, our AECES team is like the Oregon Ducks!

thus, my fearless prediction:

National Champions: KANSAS Jayhawks

Julian Wright will play his way into the top 5 of the draft, and Darrell Arthur will be the super sixth man that Marvin Williams was two years ago.

feel free to reply with your predictions, comments, and opinions

Holiday season is over, which means back to school na. I don't know about everyone else, pero naaddik ako sa atchara ngayong pasko. Marami kasing nagbigay eh, kaya kailangan ubusin. First time ko lang makatikim, tapos nagustuhan ko na. Masarap pala yun

3 months na lang, tapos na yung sem. Hello OJT! The sem ends on March 31, tapos OJT officially starts on April 2. wowowow! walang pahinga! The problem is, there is no specific format. Kaya we can make it super long, or one page lang. We can also put stuff like "I enjoy going to bars at night with my friends."

Labo noh? The weather/atmospheric temperature was relative, i guess.

Anyway, most of the JTA people are back. Si pat carlo and jaqua ang tataba na (what's up with chinese food? vetsin perhaps?)...

Oh, if you're looking for a song to download, try this: The Look (by Ryan Tedder). Maganda yan. Pero mas maganda si ercs. haha labo
